LONDON, Ontario -- Penguins defenseman Alex Grant was taken off the ice on a stretcher after absorbing a hard hit from behind during a prospects tournament game at the John Labatt Centre this afternoon.
Grant, whose neck and extremities were immobilized by medical personnel before he was lifted from the playing surface, was checked by Ottawa's David Dziurzynski at 2:22 of the first period.
There was no immediate word on the nature or severity of Grant's injury. He was taken to a local hospital for observation.
Dziurzynski received a major penalty for boarding and a game misconduct.

| Y disait sa hier à radio, si le joueur sait qu'un joueur vient le frapper et qu'il se tourne ou se met de dos, il n'y aura pas de punition |
